Replit introduced Free Mode as a new way to use Agent for everyday work. In Free Mode, everyday tasks such as chatting, ideating and routine work no longer use normal usage credits. Replit says Core subscribers can create up to 30X more than before, while Free Mode limits reset every five hours.

What Happened
Replit announced Free Mode on August 18, 2026 as part of a broader redesign of the Agent experience. Free Mode handles everyday work, while Power Mode and Max Mode remain available when a task needs more capability.
What's Next
Replit is also moving more model selection behind the product experience. Its Intelligent Model Routing system can automatically choose models based on the task while balancing quality, speed and cost.

The important change is not simply more usage. Replit is trying to make cost management part of the workflow itself: routine work stays lightweight, while more expensive computation becomes a clearer escalation.
