Pixel 10’s most interesting AI feature is the one that tries to act before you ask

Google introduced Pixel 10 with Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano, alongside Magic Cue and Camera Coach. Google also added a 5x telephoto camera to the standard Pixel 10 and says the generation receives seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates.

Magic Cue is the more interesting direction. Instead of behaving like a separate AI app, it can surface relevant information inside apps such as Messages and Phone. Google says the feature uses Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano on-device and gives users permission controls over the information it can access.

Google spread AI across the phone experience rather than concentrating it in Gemini alone. Camera Coach applies the same idea to photography by using Gemini models to suggest framing and composition changes while the user is shooting.

The important question is whether proactive assistance can remove steps without becoming another source of interruptions. The better it understands when not to appear, the more useful this model becomes.
