Cookies & Local Storage
That Upgrade Feeling uses limited browser storage and first-party cookies for site preferences, protected Premium access, security and privacy-minimized site analytics. It does not currently use advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies.
Browser storage used for site preferences
TUF uses browser storage such as localStorage to remember functional preferences, including the selected visual style. This information stays in the browser until it is changed or the site’s stored data is cleared.
Strictly necessary access cookies
Premium Customer Access and Full Reader features may use first-party cookies or equivalent browser state to remember that a browser has been authorized for protected purchased content.
These access mechanisms are used to enforce entitlement and anti-sharing controls. Clearing the relevant browser data may remove that browser’s authorization and can require the customer to use the supported recovery/access process again.
Security and browser verification
TUF security controls may use a short-lived first-party verification cookie when browser verification is enabled. Security infrastructure may also process request information needed to detect abuse, repeated login failures, automated scanning or other suspicious traffic.
Security cookies and request controls are used for protection and service integrity, not for advertising.
First-party analytics cookie
TUF Analytics uses a first-party session cookie named tuf_analytics_sid to maintain a random 30-minute analytics session. The browser holds the random token; only a SHA-256 hash of that token is stored in the analytics database. The cookie is used only on TUF's own site and is not used for cross-site advertising or behavioral profiling.
The analytics system is privacy-minimized and does not store raw IP addresses, raw User-Agent strings or browser fingerprints. More detail about the analytics fields and safeguards is provided on the Privacy page.
No advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies currently active
TUF does not currently operate advertising-cookie or behavioral-tracking-cookie categories. If advertising measurement or other materially different non-essential tracking technologies are introduced later, TUF will update its disclosures and provide any consent or preference controls required by applicable law before treating those technologies as active public functionality.
Paddle hosted checkout
Premium checkout is hosted by Paddle on Paddle’s own checkout environment. When a visitor follows a Paddle checkout link, Paddle’s own cookies, privacy practices and terms may apply on Paddle-controlled pages. TUF does not use an on-site TUF payment form to collect full payment-card details.
Clearing stored site data
Visitors can use browser controls to clear cookies, localStorage and other site data. Clearing stored data can reset visual preferences and may also remove protected-access authorization from that browser.
Future changes
This page will be updated if TUF activates new cookies, analytics, advertising technologies, newsletter functionality, account features or other browser-storage behavior that materially changes the current data practices.
